To those who think we’ve done it all….we haven’t, not even close. Here is our stab at making a bucket list. I’m sure we’ve missed things but here it is for your enjoyment. Feel free to add your own suggestions or share some of yours with us.
- 70.3 Triathlon (a.k.a. A half iron-man triathlon. Or as Danny calls it…an Aluminum Man)
- Be in a movie.
Cakes of Mexico’s Semana Santa
- Become a gourmet chef…or at least know how to cook things better
- Bike across the USA.
- Bike Italy…. A wine and food tour.
- Camp Alaska.
- Catch and prepare my own dinner.
- Coach or Teach.
- Compete in a multi-day adventure race.
- Dance good salsa.
- Discover Bhutan.
Hanging out over Bolivia’s Death Road
- Dive with whale sharks.
- Drive in the Mongol Rally.
- Experience Mongolia with a group of friends from home.
- Get paid to take pictures.
- Get really good at rock climbing.
- Grand Canyon. Hike Rim to Rim, 1 Day. (We already did down and up, rim to rim sounds better)
- Grow our own fruit trees and a vegetable garden.
- Have a wood-shop…and use it.
- Have kids.
- Hike the Appalachian Trail.
Chocolate in Ecuador
- Learn Arabic.
- Learn how to make stain glass.
- Learn to play harmonica and play on the street until I’ve earned enough money for dinner.
- Live it up in the Balkans.
- Make our own chocolate…and have it taste good.
- Make our own wine; or maybe just work a vineyard.
- Make stationary.
- Open a travel bookstore with a Bariloche styled chocolate shop.
- Own our own home.
Zebras!
- Restore an old house…then move in.
- Ride a zebra! (I’d settle for a wildebeest!)
- Road trip Australia
- Russia….St. Petersburg to Vladivostok (or backwards). The Trans-Siberian we almost took.
- RV New Zealand
- Sail the ocean….or at least a small part of it.
- SCUBA the Red Sea from a live-aboard boat.
- See a grizzly bear catch salmon in its mouth.
- See a humpback whalebreech.
A Little Whirling Dirvish in Sudan
- See the Northern or Southern Lights…preferably while sitting in a hot spring in a glacier.
- Ski
- Skydive.
- Spend more time in the Middle East – Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, etc.
- Travel Indonesia.
- Walk past a sidewalk cafe and take a free roll out of the basket on someone else’s table.
- Win a race. Just one.
- Win the lottery.
- Work a potter’s wheel.
- Write a Book
- Travel the World (I guess we did this one already…)

I must say that ‘Watching the sun rise from the top of the Land of the Rising Sun (Mt. Fuji)’ was pretty cool~
I have SO many myself: Live in India, Join the Peace Corps (or something similar), Breed pugs, enter a dance competition (i.e. learn to dance), etc., etc.

@ Mellissa – India is a good bit different than Japan…that’s for sure. Watching sunrise from the top of Mt Fuji does have a nice poetic ring to it!!
Great list! Here are some of mine:
Visit all 50 states (not airports or drive through them on the interstate – but actually go somewhere in all the states) and all 7 continents.
#14 is certainly on my list.
Pull off a really good and complete surprise for someone I love – a birthday party, visiting out of the blue, etc.
Build a piece of really beautiful furniture and use it in my house.
Swim with dolphins because that just looks so damn cool every time you see it on TV.
For two people who figured out how to save up enough to travel around the world, biking across the USA should be child’s play. Brother Joel and I did it back in 1980, and while it doesn’t hold a candle to what you did, I highly recommend it. In fact, I would be up for doing it again sometime, especially if the people I rode with were not into setting a speed record. We took a full two and a half months, stopping when we felt like it, covering ground when we didn’t feel like lingering, discovering the joys of small-town pubs, learning about the reality of redneck racism (one of the guys who accompanied us partway was African-American), and experiencing genuine, sincere hospitality in many forms.
I think the game winner will be to combine the Bike the USA (Mark. What an awesome trip….if it weren’t winter I’d go now!) plan with Alexis’ goal of going to all 50 states. I’d be willing to fly to Hawaii but biking to Alaska sounds good to me!
Fun list guys! Let me know if you manage to get paid to take photos – I’d like to know THAT secret. I like the one about playing harmonica on the street… always wondered how difficult busking would be. And I can’t believe you guys haven’t been skiing! Good luck as you cross these things off

Great list! I am in the process of making my own bucket list now too…. I’m going to add it to my blog soon. It’s always interesting to see what different people want to do in their lifetime!
Well I guess if I could achieve #47 I could actually make my entire bucket list happen! Love your list — we share a few things like #34 – Russia and the Trans-Siberian. But I’ll leave the “dance good salsa” to you. I know I’ll never be able to do that!
Number 47 is really there so that if/when I get to all the other things I’ve always got some somethign else try for……but if it happens, Vegas is the LAST place I’m going to!
