As our email suggests the news of the swine flu (which we only learned about from some other travellers yesterday) has spread far and wide. Be assured that we are in Guatemala and as of last evening there have been no reported cases here. Additionally, unless we post otherwise you can assume that no news is good news!
Currenly, my largest concern is whether there will be enough water on the rivers in Honduras for us to go kayaking!!!!!

Thanks for the update. We did have a concern relating to the swine flu with you in an area where medical aid may not be of the most modern.

Actually, there are 3 suspected cases in Guatemala. Check the Prensa Libre for details.
I suspect there will be many more because of the high traffic on the border and the poor hygiene in both countries. It won’t get as much media attention here in Guate because these people will not go to the doctor until it is too late and their symptoms will not likely be properly diagnosed.

@ Mark, Thanks for the update. The numbers seem to always be changing in Prensa Libre. Did you change schools? Didn’t see you today.

You’re safer in Guatemala than we are here in Texas. Two schools have closed in Houston alone. Hopefully this is just typical media hype. Have fun!!

Dearest Jillian and Danny,
My highlight of the day is reading your column. I hope you will write a book of your exploits. Just watched Danny jump into the river 80 times. We have swine flu here in Fla. too but I think it is highly exaggerated. At least I hope so. I’m feeling much better and I think I’m getting back to normal (whatever that is!)
Keep having fun and enjoying.
