Photo of the Day: Stalin’s Head

January 7, 2011 By Danny

Yes, you read that correctly.

This photo taken from inside the Stalin museum of a cast of Stalin’s face. It is certainly a quirky memorial to the original ‘Man of Steel’ even though it is likely cast in bronze. The museum itself was an entirley strange, somewhat eerie place. Aside from a one sided and interesting account of history it also displayed Stalin’s old uniforms and personal effects.

Special thanks to XIFRES for marking this photo as a favorite.

Photo Tuesday: All you Need is Love

December 28, 2010 By Jillian

As 2010 comes to a close, we thought this was the most appropriate photo to end the year.  A popular graffiti wall, the Lennon wall in Prague is full of quotes and art expressing all sorts of ideals and beliefs.  When we visited a small quartet played instrumental music from the Beatles giving the place a memorial like atmosphere.   Happy New Year!

Photo Tuesday: Petra’s Treasury

December 21, 2010 By Jillian

We spent hours wandering Petra.  Thanks to a tip from a friend of ours, we arrived in Petra in the afternoon when the tour groups were already leaving.  Hiking around sunset, we returned to the Treasury hoping to catch the lighting at the perfect time. The tourists were gone and the camel driver was leaving for the night.  Everything sort of came together and we got this picture, which we think captures the feeling of Petra.

Photo Tuesday: Cinderella’s Castle

December 14, 2010 By Jillian

Schloss Neuschwanstein, outside of Munich, is probably the stereotype of every little girl’s dream castle.  That’s mostly thanks to Disney, but without a doubt it’s our modern ideal of a castle.  We showed up on a dreary, rainy, foggy day, so frankly our pictures are awful.  Once inside, no photography was allowed and we spent our time giggling at our tour guide who would have been the perfect count dracula.  There’s no princess in the tower, but its about the best photo we have from that day.

The End of Our Road

December 8, 2010 By Danny

The time has come.

As this post goes to ‘press’ we will be landing in the United States. We are filled with all kinds of emotion but mostly we’re just thankful to have had the opportunity to follow our dreams.

We’ll post more on this site in the coming weeks, we still have a few weeks of travels to fill you in on, but for now, just enjoy the video!
