Similan Island Diving

March 26, 2012 By Danny

If I had to do Thailand over again, I’d skip the north and head south to the Similan Islands and spend weeks diving in the beautiful water, running on the golden beaches and eating fresh caught fish each and every day!  I’d had my eye on getting to the region but one thing let to another and in the end it just wasn’t in the cards.  It’s ashame because we could have used the R&R and really would have enjoyed the diving.

I chose this picture to share with you because the colors are just absolutely stunning for an underwater photo.  The diving in this region is amongst the absolute best in the world and aside from clownfish there is a dizzying array of larger creatures from rays and turtles all the way up the shark family to the kingpin, the whale shark.

Diving in the Similian Islands

IF YOU GO:  There are tons of beautiful beaches in this region so just choose the right one for you and enjoy all that the area has to offer.  You’ll likely be flying into Phuket for your trip and have your chose of accommodation from budget hostels up to luxury hotels like the beautiful Sarojin.  Regardless of your choice, you’ll have an excellent time and shouldn’t have a care in the world.
